Pearls O' Wisdom

Tears on my pillow

How did we get here? We are in the middle (God I hope we’ve made it to the middle) of a primary election cycle. We’ve apparently come to the point where if you point out your opponent’s position on an issue, well you’ve just gone too far. Is it wrong, unfair, uncool to simply point out what the other guy (or lady, sorry Senator Clinton) is saying when on the soap box? “Well if you’re a Republican, yes. They’re stupid, fat and ugly…"

I think we should get together and take up a collection. We need to purchase a history book, dictionary, and some Ginkobelowya for our friends on the left. You see Senator Obama, if you’re running for President you don’t get to vote present. You’re going to have to take a stand on something. You pointed out a gas tax holiday was a stupid idea that would do no good. I was one of the first to say “Good for you”. You also said that you would sit down and talk to the head terrorist in Iran. I’m not totally against that idea. Maybe if you made a phone call and explained that the Stealth bombers are over Tehran right about now. We’re about to carpet bomb your country back to the Stone Age. You should hang up and take cover.

The policy of appeasement that President Bush refers to has been tried. This is where the Ginkobelowya comes into play. It allegedly helps your memory. You see terrorists had been blowing up our embassies, our ships, nightclubs full of our soldiers, and building in New Your City for over a decade. What did we do? We threatened to bring these people to justice. We prosecuted a few guys for a few incidents. We dug some holes in the sand, stuck our heads in, and then pulled some excess sand back over our heads. How well did that work for us? Does anyone remember Sept. 11th?

Now for the history book, prior to Americas entry into WWII, we basically did the same thing. Try to reason with a very sick individual. Tell ourselves that it’s really not as bad as everyone’s making it out. Hope that the problem will work itself out. We probably even threw some money at the problem, but I’m pretty sure no one stooped so low as to pray. We just can’t have that. I’m not exactly sure of the spelling (big supprise), but check out that Nevell Chamberland guy. Know your history people.

Now about that dictionary, you’re looking for appeasement.

I did hear the sound bite from the President yesterday. He didn’t mention any names. Many of our politicians and talking heads from the left, and some from the middle, think and say this should be our plan. It was Senator Obama who singled himself out. Yes he did say he wanted to talk to Iran. Are you backing down now? If the shoe fits, I guess you better sweat in it.

Getting together and talking through our differences does sounds good. You and I can sit down and have a discussion. We may even reach some form of understanding or agreement. They key factor in the equation is that we don’t want to kill each other. Hate is a powerful emotion and is not often overcome by reason or another bong hit.

So man up Senator, you chose your position on this issue. Now you cry foul because someone didn’t agree with you. You feel like you’ve been attacked just because someone pointed out what you had said you’d do in a given situation. How are you going to react when faced with a serious problem? You know the rest of the world may not love you as much as the left here at home. Some mean guy in some far off country may say something that’ll hurt your feelings. Here is yet another reason to vote for Senator Clinton. She can take it like a man.

I guess I’ve been groomed most of my life to be involved in the automotive specialty aftermarket. Back in the late 70s, while I was but a mere pup, I worked at First Stage Steel. They were a manufacturer of roll bars located in Harrisonville, MO. We’re talking the days when you got to choose between black or white for your new roll bar. Things sure have changed. My primary duties were to keep the toilets clean and the floors swept. Brother, that’s starting at the bottom. Time rolls on and I’ve moved up. I spent most of my time since then as an aftermarket parts rep in the specialty aftermarket. I’ve done the retail gig. I’ve been a manufacturer. I guess you can say I’ve manufactured accessories, boxed them up, shipped them out, received them, sold them, installed them, and cleaned up afterwards. I think it’s fair to say I’ve paid my dues. Today I am the President and CEO of a specialty part manufacturer in the light truck aftermarket. Yes that’s a fancy title. We’re a small business who cares more about building the best product than selling the cheapest parts available. We’re always behind in production. We’re far from being the cheapest available. We are however the best at what we do. You don’t have to take my word for it. You’ll find our customers in users forums out on the net saying that we’re the best in the business. I’m not getting rich, but I do get a tremendous amount of satisfaction knowing we help make someone’s life a little better. I also have this website. CustomTrucks.net started off back in 1995. I wanted to build an online community back before we all knew what one was. Little things like remotely posting to a database on a web server just wasn’t done that much. It cost a lot of money back then. Over the years things gradually got out of hand. I couldn’t keep up, so we sat here and idled for 6 or 7 years. Now I’m back. We have a new direction and objectives. I have this great new software called Community Server. While it seems a little slow, it works great. It’s also easy to install and set up. I still have some tweaking to do, but it’ll come along with time. The Community Server software was available from Intermedia. They host our website and provide our mail server. I have to say that since we started with Intermedia back in 1995, I’ve never had a problem with their service. And what’s on the horizon you ask? I want to make a major contribution to mankind. I want to make life better for people everywhere. I see three major problems which threaten human life everywhere on the planet. First we have the “energy crisis”. Since we now use our food for fuel, we have now a global food crisis. People are rioting all over the world because they can’t afford their groceries. And third, global warming will surely kill us all by 2012. The plan? I am working on a new design of internal combustion engine. It’s not exactly as fuel efficient as today’s engines. It does run on a renewable fuel source. It doesn’t produce a cleaner exhaust, but its use will lead to an overall reduction in the production of greenhouse gasses. With continual use, it will lead to more liberty for all people. “So what’s the deal with this new engine” you ask? Simple, it runs on politicians. Mr. Kennedy – we need you.
